A poodle-Shih Tzu mix named Tonik, who has an almost eery human-like face, is available for adoption. Gawker called his face "eerily humanoid."
The dog is available for adoption at the Homeward Bound Animal Welfare group. The Huffington Post reported that the dog came to the shelter from a kill shelter in Kentucky.

In an email to The Huffington Post, Jen Schwartz, the owner of Homeward Bound,said the shelter had as of recently taken in dogs that needed dental work or had illnesses.
Gawker reported that it was not clear why Tonik ended up in the kill shelter in the first place. The two-year-old dog has been vetter, groomed and is ready for adoption from the shelter in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Gawker reported that dog lovers interested in adopting need to visit the shelter in order to pick up Tonik or another dog.
"Homeward Bound Animal Welfare Group, or HB for short, is a volunteer operated non profit dog rescue located in Northern Indiana. We are a NO KILL rescue. It is our mission to spay or neuter every dog that comes through our rescue in an effort to counter the overpopulation of unwanted dogs," said Homeward Bound's website.
Homeward Bound has an option to put in an application on their website. Once an application is submitted they say they will contact you within 24-48 hours and then it will take less than a week for to process the application.
"From there it will take less than one week to process your application. If you are approved, we require you to commit to an adoption appointment within a week," says Homeward Bounds website.
SPCA's website stated that approximately 5 to 7 million animals enter shelters around the country every year. Approximately 3 million to 4 million animals, 60 percent dogs, 70 percent cats are euthanized every year.
