Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe' Nominated For Grammy Award: Thank Justin Bieber For That [VIDEO]

Carly Rae Jepsen had the hit of the year in 2012 with "Call Me Maybe." Everyone from sports stars, movie actors and soldiers abroad sang her song or openly mocked it on YouTube. It was hands down the feel-good song of the summer.

Now, the Canadian-born singer could add the title of Grammy-Award winner to her name because that is exactly what she could be after the Grammy Award show on Sunday, Feb. 10.

The song has been nominated for Best Performance, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo.

Her competition is Miguel, Kelly Clarkson, Ed Sheeran and Fun.

Jepsen can thank fellow Canadian Justin Bieber for the song's success having tweeted his approval of the song before it went viral, back in Decmeber of 2011.

With the help of Bieber, "Call Me Maybe" made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on March 10, 2012, sitting at 38, according to MTV.

"I was in London at the time I saw Katy's version of 'Call Me Maybe.' I think she was at Coachella when she shot it, which was really cool," Jepsen said in May 2012. "It was another surreal moment: Being in London was already crazy and then on top of it, to kind of see all the stars were reaching out and doing their versions as well, it was kind of like a cherry on top of the whole thing," reported MTV.

From there its popularity kept growing and eventually reached the top-spot before being booted by Flo Rida's "Whistle," after a nine-week run.

Jepsen revealed that the song was more than a song--it showed her something about herself.

"Well, I think in truth I've never actually been brave enough to go and approach a guy that way," she told MTV News last summer. "But I kind of like to live vicariously through my music and be a braver version of myself in songs. And not only that, it's really, that kind of flirtatious nature, I think, is easy to kind of tap into and that imagination, it's easy to go there," she said to MTV.

The song has gone on to sell 6,474,000 copies in the U.S. The video has nearly attracted 400 million views on YouTube since its debut last March and won MTV's Song of the Year in December, but with all of this, she was still shocked by the Grammy nomination.

"I was gunning maybe for Top 10 on iTunes. That was my little, mini secret goal," she told the Huffington Post upon learning of the nomination. "I think with a song being as big as 'Call Me Maybe,' there's always that challenge of how do we push past that and show people that there is more to offer. I'm confident whether it's with this album or the next, I'll be able to prove that."

The question remains to be answered, but, will Grammy be calling her maybe?
