‘Sword Art Online’ Main Characters Tops Newtype Magazine In Character Rankings, Fans Freak Out At Issue That Kirito Is Cheating

Fans still can't get enough of "Sword Art Online," as main characters, Kirito and Asuna are still atop Newtype magazine's character rankings, showing how popular the two are, even months after the "Ordinal Scale" movie. Their popularity is also why fans are freaking out at the suggestion that Kirito is cheating.

According to a report from Crunchyroll, the two main characters of the anime have been on the top spot for two straight months now, as the May issue of the magazine had them both number one. Kirito is again number one in the male character rankings and is followed by Mikazuki Augus of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans."

Another Gundam character, Char Aznable of "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin," came in third, while fourth and fifth are "Konosuba 2's" Kazuma, and Araragi Koyomi of "Monogatari Series," last issue's second ranked.

For the female characters, Asuna is again on top and is followed by Tanya Degurechaff of "Saga Of Tanya The Evil." The third is "Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works'" Saber, the April issue's second-ranked, and she is followed by Rem of "Re: atZeroinfourth, and "Macross Frontier's" Ranka Lee at fifth.

The rankings showed how popular "Sword Art Online's" main characters are. That's why fans are freaking out with a recent tweet that shows a poster of Kirito with a kiss mark on his lips.

ComicBook reports that the poster shows Kirito with a large teary eyed Asuna in the background. The poster of Kirito can be seen with a kiss mark on it, likely given by a fan of the anime character.

The report said that Kirito's cheating scandal began as a joke, but a lot of fans are taking it seriously and are now waging wars on whether that mark of infidelity has any meaning to Asuna and Kirito's relationship.

One thing is clear in all of this, Kirito should not even think about cheating Asuna, as fans would definitely be angry about it. Check out some moments between Kirito and Asuna of "Sword Art Online" in the video below.
