'Sony Xperia XZ Premium' Dubai Launch Highlighted 'Motion Eye™' Super-Slow Motion Feature

The "Best New Smartphone" at this year's MWC is making its way to the United Arab Emirates. Earlier this week, Sony had an event in Dubai for the "Xperia XZ Premium," and the highlight was the super-slow motion feature of the phone.

Khaleej Times reported that Sony demonstrated the solid specifications of the phone, including the "Motion EyeTM" feature. This feature was just introduced to the "Xperia XZs" and the "Xperia XZ Premium," and what this does is it captures slow-motion videos at 960 frames per second.

Imagine being able to capture a raindrop as it hits the soil or a balloon popping. The "Motion EyeTM" feature in the "Xperia XZ Premium" will be able to let us see what is usually not seen by the naked eye, Stuff Middle East reported. This capability is four times slower than those found in other flagships.

The "Xperia XZ Premium" is also the first to feature a memory stacked "ExmorTMRS" sensor. The technology used is usually only found on compact cameras, and it gives 5x faster image scanning as well as data transfer. Sony has already presented some real-world 1080p super slow motion footage previously, and it did not take them long to make a product based on the technology.

Aside from this amazing feature, the "Xperia XZ Premium" boasts a 4K HDR (High Dynamic Range) display with a 5.5-inch screen and the latest Qualcomm chip. It runs on Qualcomm 835 chip with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, expandable to up to 256GB with a microSD. Camera specs are 19MP rear and 13MP front.

It should be noted that the "Motion EyeTM" feature of the "Xperia XZ Premium" can't pull off a slow-motion action at 4K, and not even 1080p resolution. It is limited to shooting in 720 x 1280 for the highest-speed slow-mo. However, this is still impressive, considering that other smartphones can only do 240fps max.
