Attention Harry Potter fans! Princess Cruises and Whimsic Alley are teaming up to present the first annual Wizard Cruise.
Over 600 Harry Potter fans are invited to sail on the Golden Princess for four magical nights, The cruise departs Los Angees on November 27.
This would be the first Harry Potter cruise ever. Wimsic Alley is Los Angeles is a top destination for Harry Potter fans since it opened eight years ago. It features several Harry Potter-esque shops that sell things like wands, quills, witches' hats, curios, wizard jewelry and apparel, much like Diagon Alley in the films. Parties are often held at The Great Hall in Whimsic Alley.
Imagine over 600 Harry Potter fanatics, dressed in their finest wizard robes and brandishing magic wands, descending upon a modern luxury liner. That will be the scene later this year as Whimsic Alley, in association with Princess Cruises, hosts its first annual Wizard Cruise.
Whimsic Alley holds summer day camps for kids and for adult Harry Potter fans.
"We fully immerse our campers in the wizard-world experience. For the entire time they're with us, they become students at a wizarding academy, subject to the challenges and ordeals inherent in that experience," Whimsic Alley's creator, Stan Goldin creator said in a release.
The full-immersion experience will also be part of the Wizard Cruise.
"Guests will be entertained practically around the clock," said Event Coordinator Belinda Ervin . "They'll be overwhelmed. They literally won't know which way to turn." Ervin didn't want to give away too much about what sort of events wills take place. "We've found that part of what makes the experience fun is the element of surprise, so we don't like to give away too much information ahead of time," she said.
Goldin explained that the events may be based on fan input.
"We've been soliciting ideas from our fans since last year and have tried incorporating as many of their suggestions as possible. We're proud to be able to offer this trip on the Golden Princess. We consider Princess one of the world's finest cruise lines," Goldin said.
The cruise starts at $650 per person and ranges up to $1184 depending on the type of room and double, triple, or quad occupancy. The price includes food, lodging, entertainment and activities.
The cruise sets sail from San Pedro, California on Wednesday, Nov. 27. It spends a day at sea on Thanksgiving Day Thursday. On Friday it makes a stop at San Diego. On Saturday, the ship stops at Ensenada, Mexico and then it ends in Los Angeles on Sunday, Dec. 1.
Organizers decided to hold the cruise on Thanksgiving Weekend as this is when many youngsters will be on vacation and will have time to go on the adventure.
