Episode 2 of "Attack on Titan" Season 2 will not only see the Survey Corps battle titans inside Wall Rose, but it will dive a little bit into Sasha's past. Meanwhile, the pairing of Eren and Mikasa might not actually develop into them becoming a couple.
According to a report from Inverse, the pairing of the two main characters in the series has been a fan favorite. But there are several reasons why they won't turn into a couple, and the main one has more to do with the anime series' classification and production.
The report said that anime shows are usually classified into genre categories, and they fit these classifications precisely. The anime series "Attack on Titan" is based on a manga by Hajime Isayama and it's not a romance story, which means little to no romance at all will happen in the story.
The story focuses more on monster mythology, warfare, and class structure. As for the "flirtatious" intimacy that can be seen throughout the series between Eren and Mikasa, the main characters are mostly teenagers, so a little bit of flirting will be part of the story but it won't be the focus.
Even if there are scenes that suggest Mikasa is devoted to Eren far more than a sibling ever will be, it likely won't develop into something more. Or fans won't just get to see any romantic moments in the entire series.
Despite not having any romantic story to tell, the anime is still a great watch for everyone. In the meantime, the preview for episode 2 of the series shows that not only will fans get to see Eren and the Survey Corps have to deal with titans that are running around Wall Rose, they'll also learn something about one of Eren's comrades.
