The new president is determined to make America great again. This has been his platform of government promised to the Americans during his campaign. In view of this, he also promoted the slogan, "America First."
The 45th president's slogan boomerangs within his family. Ivanka Trump has been importing goods from China and other Asian countries for the past years. According to CNBC, documents reviewed by NBC News show that after election, Ivanka's apparel brand has caused 56 shipments from China and Singapore which form part of the total 215 shipments since January 2016.
The bulk of the first daughter's merchandise comes from Asian countries particularly China. Her father's "America First" slogan hits her in the bulls eye as she has to shift suppliers - from China to the US. In fairness to Ivanka, she has reiterated her desire to do the manufacturing of her apparels and other merchandise in the US but production for whatever reason is not possible in the country.
It can be recalled that Trump has caused the retention of some big companies like the Carrier to stay and do business in the country. In his inaugural address, he said, "from this moment on, it's going to be America first." Along with this, Trump also declared "buy American and hire American."
If Ivanka continues to ship merchandise from her former suppliers it is a big blow to her father's administration. Even if she has delegated the management of the business to her mother, still, she has to be the first to obey the White House's policy. This is a thing to be monitored by the Trump detractors.
The Trump family is still doing business with Chinese businessmen, with the trade policy formulated by Trump, his family will be the first to obey. But the Chinese system has deeply grown into the family's business enterprises. In fact, Ivanka and her children have embraced the Chinese culture.
Husband Jared Kushner has instilled in his children this culture; they study Chinese and talk Chinese. Inside Edition reported that the Chinese people love Ivanka Trump. She is being idolized in the country.
