January and February were forgettable months for the Brooklyn Nets as they went 1-27, wherein Jeremy Lin played only two of those games due to his injury. But come March, things are different with the Nets as Lin, being fully healthy, was able to bring back stability to the team.
According to a report from Newsday, Lin's return to form has coincided with the team's 10-10 showing in the month of March. Lin was sidelined with a hamstring injury during the two worst months of the team and when he returned, his minutes were limited for two games.
Kenny Atkinson, the Nets head coach, said it's not just Lin who orchestrated their turnaround month, but he did contribute greatly to the team. Atkinson said that the thing with Lin being back was that the team has "more stability."
"We had guys maybe not in the role that was right for them, maybe asking them to do a little too much," Atkinson said. Lin's return helps everybody go back to their original roles. This sentiment was echoed by shooting guard Randy Foye.
He said that Lin was "a big part" what the team is trying to do. He added it's important to have a veteran player to run the team. And with Lin back, their two backup point guards, one of them a rookie, to go back to their role and gradually learn how to be a proper point guard in the NBA.
Though the Nets own one of the worst records in the league, Foye said they still want to end the season on a high note. "We need to move forward and try to be the best team we can be closing out this year," he said.
Their most recent game was against another lottery team in the Orlando Magic. The Nets lost, though, 107-115.
The team was led by Lin's 32 points in 31 minutes, according to Yahoo! Sports. Forward Caris LeVert added 20 points for the Nets but only got 10 points from their center Robin Lopez.
The Brooklyn Nets only have three more games remaining, two against the Chicago Bulls and one against the Boston Celtics. Check out Jeremy Lin's highlights against the Magic in the video below.
