Former "Today" and CBS "Nightly News" host Katie Couric revealed on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" that she almost got it on with Larry King during their one and only, bad and awkward date.
King, 23 years Couric senior at the time of the rendezvous even brought her home-hoping for some "nightly news."
"We had a nice enough time and we're going home and I see that we're going over [Arlington] Memorial Bridge, and this is not the way to my apartment. I said 'Larry, where are we going?' And he said 'My place.' Oh mother of God," Couric said to Kimmel, according to New York Daily News.
Once inside King's "palace of love" Couric described the apartment as "festooned in his various honors, like keys to the city and a proclamation of 'Larry King Day,'" according to New York Daily News.
"So we sat there and what can I say? He lunged," Couric said, reported webpronews.com.
This caused the then 30-year-old aspiring newswoman to laugh because "the whole situation was out of a bad Lifetime movie."
Why would anyone want to put themselves through an ordeal like that? Simple, "it's because she was up for any date that could be a 'learning experience,'" stated webpronews.com.
This isn't the first time that this date was mentioned, the sly little rascal himself, Larry King, has spoken about this before, ironically, on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in 2009.
King claims that he was prevented from going up to Couric's apartment by her roommate, so he had to take her to his place.
"Nothing happened with Katie and I [sic]," King confirmed, as reported by New York Daily News.
A date with Larry King-wonder what the pick-up line was?
Maybe, something like this, "Hello, do you want to be live with Larry King?"
