Actress Kristin Chenoweth claims she was mistreated by American Airlines staff.
According to TMZ, Chenoweth said she was screamed at and bullied by a gate agent when she tried to board an American Airlines flight with her dog. Chenoweth was set to fly from Dallas to Los Angeles with her dog, Madeline, but she was stopped by the gate agent who claimed she didn't have the necessary paperwork to bring the dog on the plane.
Chenoweth insisted that she filled out the paperwork properly but the gate agent started to verbally abuse her in front of the other passengers, causing her to be very embarrassed. She was so upset over the incident that she started crying.
American Airlines eventually realized the mistake and they allowed Chenoweth to board the flight with her dog.
Chenoweth later took to Twitter to criticize the gate agent. "American Airlines: Dallas flight attnt supervisor Ms. Kidwell. Abuse not okay. #tripfromhell," she wrote.
American Airlines was made aware of the complaint and they issued a statement to TMZ saying that they apologized to Chenoweth and gave her a refund.
"We have been in touch with Ms. Chenoweth to offer our apologies for the misunderstanding. We refunded the [$125] cabin pet charge as soon as we realized the mistake. We hope she will consider flying American again in the future," American Airlines told TMZ.
Chenoweth always flies with her white dog Madeline.
TMS called Madeline Chenoweth's service dog, but she says this is false. "Maddie is NOT a service dog. She is an emotional support animal. just fyi TMZ" she wrote.
