A Delta jet was evacuated after a fire broke out in its brakes before taking off at Boston's Logan International Airport on Thursday.
According to CBS, all of the 143 passengers were removed from Delta flight 2101 because of a brake fire on the MD90 while it was taxiing towards the runway. The plane was about to leave Boston to head to Atlanta.
"We were taxing out to the runway and one of the brakes locked up on the right side wheel. The captain notified us that a fire truck would be following us back to the terminal and apparently the brake caught fire as we were taxing back, so they evacuated all the passengers off the plane," said Kevin Davis, a passenger who was evacuated from the airplane told WHDH.
The passengers were bussed back to the terminal from the runway after they were evacuated. Fire crew could be seen hosing down an area near the rear wheels.
"Passengers on Delta Flight 2101 are being bused back to the terminal. All passengers are safe, the situation is currently being handled," a message on Boston Logan Airport's Twitter account read. "All passengers from Delta flight 2101 were bused to their terminal safely and calmly. The airline and authorities will investigate.
Passengers were put on to another plane to Atlanta. No one was injured in the incident.
Delta and the FAA are looking into the issue.
