BBC is still mum about the fate of "Sherlock" Season 5. It has been almost three months since we saw the last episode, and fans are getting more and more impatient. They have now joined together on social media to call on the producers of the series.
Fans on Twitter have started a hashtag called "#Bring221Back." Fans are asking everyone to make this hashtag trend on April 2, Celebeat reported. Loyal viewers claim that the Season 4 finale is a cliffhanger, and it would be a shame to not give proper closure to the beloved characters. The producers of "Sherlock" and lead actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are yet to comment on this Twitter trend.
Cumberbatch has already implied that it's ridiculous to think that "Sherlock" won't be back for Season 5. During a previous interview, he said that they love the show and they are very busy. The show's ratings have been impressive, and rumors say that the show will be back, but it may not happen until next year.
Some reports say that the reason why the future of the series is hazy for now is because cast members are working on other projects. Sian Brooke, who portrayed Eurus Holme, is confirmed to be a part of "Mission Impossible 6." What's more, Freeman and Cumberbatch have gotten major roles in "Fantastic Beasts," Hypable reported.
Freeman will play Dumbledore, while Cumberbatch replaced Johnny Depp as Grindelwald. Many fans of the movie are not happy about Depp being replaced, and director David Yates' comment did not pacify fans of the movie at all. He said: "In this business, it's a weird old business." He added that people will say that you're brilliant one week but will be saying odd things the next week. "But no one takes away your pure talent," he said.
This news just adds fuel to talks that "Sherlock" Season 5 would really have to be postponed, but loyal viewers actually don't mind waiting, for as long as the network and the producers would just confirm Season 5. We will keep you posted for any updates - that's for sure.
