"Ghetto Gospel" singer Tupac Shakur died a mysterious death at the same year he released his "All Eyez On Me" album. He was fatally shot on Sept. 7, 1996, and died six days after. Twenty years after his death, he will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame by his long-time collaborator Snoop Dog.
The event will be a reunion of Shakur's famous friends like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog. The "Murder Was The Cause" singer has collaborated with the "Life Goes On" singer on "2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted." He was the one who introduced the dead artist to Death Row Records.
His alma mater remembered him after the announcement of his Hall of Fame induction as per The Baltimore Sun. The Principal at the Baltimore School of Arts said that he saw the artist as another Denzel Washington. However, his talent was wasted when his life was cut at the age of 25.
Along with Shakur, the other artists who will make it to the Hall Of Fame 2017 class are Yes, Joan Baez, Electric Light Orchestra, Journey, Pearl Jam, and Nile Rodgers. The momentous ceremony will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 7.
Detractors of the rap star were questioning his eligibility of his inclusion into the Hall of Fame as per Cleveland. They were citing that rap is not a genre related to rock in roll. But still, his induction will push through this year.
To this day, the death of the man whose stage name is 2Pac was never solved. He was gunned down at the Flamingo Road and Koval Lane in Las Vegas on their way to Suge Knight's establishment called Club 662. They came from a boxing match between Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon at the MGM Grand.
A theory that Suge Knight was the brain behind the shooting surfaced. The Death Row Records proprietor was believed to have ordered the killing so that the victim will not switch record labels. Another person linked to the killing was Biggie who was mentored by Shakur on his music. He died shortly after.
The case is still open until today according to the police authorities in-charge of the investigation. Many conspiracy theories have emerged about the double murder. Tupac Shakur has long been laid to rest but his legacy is still alive today.
