Korean stars gathered at the 22 Annual Seoul Music Awards, where the best of k-pop supserstars were under one roof Thursday night. Kpopstarz.com reported that the likes of "Super Junior, Psy, Big Bang, 2NE1, K. Will, and Girls' Generation, and Epik High," were all up for awards this year.
The Seoul Music Awards was founded in 1990 by the Sports Seoul to recognize outstanding acheivements in the South Korean music industry. "It is one of the big four music award ceremonies in Korea, alongside the 'Mnet Asian Music Awards', 'Golden Disk Awards', and 'Melon Music Awards," reports allkpop.com
The most well-known star globally, Psy, took home the highest honor at the awards-the Daesang Award. He also won "Best Single of the Year" for Gangnam style which swept over the world. Super Junior, a popular "boy band" took home the Bonsang and Hallyu Special Award.
"G Dragon took the honor for Record of the Year with "One of A Kind." The award for R&B Ballad went to K. Will and the Hip Hop/Rap award to Double K. Best OST Award went to CNBLUE's Jonghyun. The Performance Culture Award went to Kim Jang Hoon," reported Kpopstarz.com.
Other winners include SISTAR for Digital Record of the Year, for their record, "Alone." Psy's hit "Gangnam Style" made him a worldwide sensation and his YouTube music video becamse the most watched music video in history.
