Creative Assembly had just announced "Total War: Warhammer 2," which will introduce new playable raises and have its own standalone campaign. But the developer said that they will eventually have a "mega campaign" to combine "Total War: Warhammer 1" with the latest installment of the game.
According to a report from Game Stop, the four new playable races in the latest game are the High Elves, the Dark Elves, the Lizardmen, and another fourth race that the developers have yet to reveal. The new game will also be taking place in the continents that are "far to the west" of the Old World, The Southlands and Lustria.
The report said that players will also be enjoying a "new style of the narrative campaign" in "Total War: Warhammer 2." The four races are either competing to save the Great Vortex over Ulthuan or destroy it, and it's up to the players to be first to accomplish their goal with the race of their choice.
Though players will have a standalone campaign to play in "Total War: War Hammer 2," the game will eventually connect with "Total War: Warhammer 1" at some point. Eurogamer was able to interview communications manager Al Bickham and game director Ian Roxburgh about the game and they talked about the "mega campaign."
Bickham said that they will soon introduce an option to have a "mega campaign" for the game's latest installment, shortly after it releases. The campaign will allow players who own the "Total War: Warhammer 1" game and all its DLC to combine it with the new game.
Roxburgh adds that the "mega campaign" will basically combine the New World with the Old one and have one giant map. To do this, they will likely have to cut some of the smaller factions, but not all. He said, as much as possible, they want everything to be there, so it won't look like just piecing together two large maps.
The two wouldn't want to go into too much about the giant campaign, but Roxburgh did say it will be there. Fans will just have to wait and see when "Total War: Warhammer 2" is released sometime in 2017. Check out the trailer for the game in the video below.
