A mob of Indonesian monkeys went on a rampage on Wednesday, storming into Toodang Pulu village residents' homes. The 10 monkeys attacked seven people, according to the Associated Press, including one 16-year-old boy who is in the hospital with severe bite injuries.
Usually, these monkeys are scared at the mere sound of a human's voice, ABC News reported, so it's unclear why they would emerge and attack, Ambo Ella, a spokesman for Sidendang Rappang District in South Sulawesi province, said.
Ella told ABC that the troop could have come from a nearby forest protected by a local tribe. Local authorities are investigating what could have provoked the attack.
