Two traveling Bronx women nearly got away with carrying illegal loads on a plane, but once they landed at John F. Kennedy Airport, their secrets were uncovered - quite literally.
They were wearing diapers loaded with cocaine, CBS New York reported.
Once the women - Priscilla Pena and Michelle Blassingale - arrived at JFK from Santo Domingo on Saturday, a drug-sniffing dog detected that something was amiss around Pena's midsection, according to court documents CBS cites. Airport agents searched a nervous Pena's luggage, and then requested a pat-down. Pena agreed - and during their partial strip search, agents came across the hidden cocaine, inside a diaper-like girdle covered in a silver plastic wrapper.
When Pena was placed under arrest, she told agents that she traveled with Blassingale, who agents also searched, uncovering a cocaine-filled diaper. Together, the two travelers were charged with smuggling about six and a half kilos of cocaine, The New York Post reported.
While Blassingale was held in custody by a Brooklyn federal judge, records show that Pena was released on $150,000 bond, according to The Post.
