For all of those who grew up watching "Boy Meets World" and watch every re-run that appears on television, or, for the crazy-fans, has the entire series on dvd, listen to this-Disney is about to launch a spin-off, titled, "Girl Meets World," staring Cory and Topanga's little girl, Riley Matthews, (played by 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard) is in the pilot-stage, but if all goes according to plan, the series will be picked up and begin regular production for a premier during the 2013-14 Disney schedule.
As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews," Michael Jacobs, who's producing the "Girl Meets World" pilot, told the Entertainment Weekly. "Rowan is real and accessible and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well." (taken from Yahoo.com)
Blanchard broke the news of her new role herself, via twitter. Stating simply, ""IT'S OFFICIAL! I WILL BE PLAYING RILEY MATTHEWS IN GIRL MEETS WORLD!! AHHH SOO EXCITED!" [sic]
Adding, "Thnks 4all the love& support everyone SO excited 4 this new phase n my life." [sic]
Blanchard's credits include 2010's "The Back-up Plan" and a 2011 "Spy Kids" movie.
In November, The Disney Channel confirmed that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel would reprise their roles in the new series, playing a happily married Cory and Topanga parenting a 13-year-old daughter.
Using a Tumbir post to state her feelings on the matter, Fishel said, "GMW is a new show. It isn't BMW brought back to life but in current day. It will have familiar faces, familiar themes, and familiar messages. It will also have new faces, new themes, and new messages. BMW never spoke down to the audience and we are going to do our best to never do that with GMW. But please keep in mind that this there will be episode 1, of season 1, of a brand new show."
