The Super Bowl, between the San Francisco 49Eers and the Baltimore Ravens is only five-days away, but for those traveling down without tickets, who just want to be part of the moment, here are a few places to check out.
First of all, before starting this out, hotels are books and tickets-according to third-party vendors, like stubhub.com, the price range for a single ticket-$1,600 and up.
As for parties, remember, this is the home to Mardi Gras, so New Orleans knows how to get and keep the party going, but, as sports goes, nothing beats free and January 31st-February 3rd, the NFL is throwing a four-day party on Verizon Super Bowl Boulevard-featuring attractions, music, food and beverages. There will also be interactive fan events and a scenic walkway through the park.
However, on game day, it is time to hit up the bars and take in the spectacle with fellow fans.
One of, if not the most popular place to watch the game is Manning's (opened by the Manning family, Payton, Eli and father Archie), connected to Harrah's Casino, but with a spate entrance on the Fuiton Street Mall.
The restaurant is divided into four sections:
The End Zone, Archie's Room, The Courtyard and The Stadium Club.
However, the best seat in the house, hands down, without argument is The End Zone.
Home to 17 leather-reclining chairs in the style of stadium seating is located directly in front of a 13 x 7 ½-foot flat screen. Advance reservation are required for this section without it being the Super Bowl, so, if there is still space, book it now.
Directly in the French quarter, on Bourbon Street, is Bayou Burger & Sports Company.
What separates this establish from other sports bars in the area is its menu, offering American, Cajun and Creole entrees and desserts, along with a good beer selection, Bayou will definitely be rocking without a stopping.
Not to take a backseat to Bayou, atmosphere, and menu wise, Corner Oyster Bar and Grill is another Bourbon Street option.
With 16 big-screen televisions and surround sound, it will feel like being at the game, maybe even a better feeling?
The food is basic bar food, burgers fries...and the beer selection isn't great, but for those in the 1-25 range, this is a good place to stop in.
For those outside the city center, Bayou Beer Garden, located at 326 N. Jefferson Davis Pkwy offers over 75 bottle beers and an array of tap choices. The outdoor patio, pool table and dart boards will be a welcoming distraction during halftime.
In any case, no matter what the decision is, New Orleans will be partying, regardless of who wins "The Big Game."
