Deer running into traffic have caused plenty of troubles for unsuspecting motorists, but now, the deer are even creating issues for airplanes.
Tweed Regional Airport in New Haven, Conn. is in the process of installing a fence to close off, not just the runway, but the entire airport property.
This comes as a result of a small Learjet air-ambulance striking a deer during takeoff four months ago.
According to The New Haven Register, the owner of the jet, David Fox, is determined to sue the city of New Haven over the Sept. 20 incident.
As the owner of Toronto-based Fox Flight Service, he claims that due to lost business and plane repair costs, he has sustained irrevocable financial damages.
Though no one was injured in the accident, Fox is uncertain of how secure the airport would be without a fence around the entire facility, as the deer are not scared by the current fencing just around the runaway.
This issue is not just a concern for New Haven, but a worldwide problem.
Airports around the globe are delayed by different avoidable circumstances like animal crossings; yet, don't seem bemused by doing anything about it.
Maybe, it is due to cost-saving measures by the airlines or the government?
Maybe, they both, just don't care?
Newark-International Airport does have a comprehensive fencing enclosure, but they are adjacent to a major highway, other airports are not and need protection from the outside world-for their safety, but more importantly, the safety of the passengers.
