The New Year is the beginning of new life, as the saying goes, but sadly, that is not the case for "Girl Meets World." Just a few days after 2017 started, Disney announced that after 70 episodes, the show has been canceled.
After Season 3, "Girl Meets World" said goodbye, and the series finale was aired on January 20. The episode titled "Girl Meets Goodbye" showed Shawn (Rider Strong) announcing that she will legally adopt Maya (Sabrina Carpenter). Topanga (Danielle Fishel) decided she won't take the job after all, and Riley, Maya, and everyone on the show will move on with their life, E! Online said. The finale showed highlighted the importance of friendship.
M Magazine said that even though fans never got to see what Maya's life is with her new family, a Twitter post proves that the cast is still close even after "Girl Meets World" ended. Carpenter posted a message on St. Patrick's Day which was taken from a scene in the series, and captioned it: "Happy St. Patrick's day from your fellow Irishman."
Strong then posted "One of my favorite scenes we made. Slainte, my TV daughter." This made fans gush because Strong publicly acknowledged his on-screen daughter.
It's understandable that when Carpenter was asked who her favorite co-star is, she declined to give an answer, because it would be hard to pick just one, considering how close everyone in the show is. When asked to name her favorite, she said: "You're going to make me pick? I'm gonna get angry texts from whoever I don't say."
She did name the person who makes her laugh so hard, though. "Ben Savage, who plays Cory - Cory Matthews, our teacher. He's the funniest person in real life and on screen," Carpenter added. She also said that she did the show when she was just 13 years old, and she has grown up on "Girl Meets World" with the people around her.
