Travel website Travelzoo is on a mission to "Support the Shore" by providing special deals on hotel stays in Atlantic City and the Jersey Shore. They're also donating some of the proceeds towards rebuilding these areas after they were affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Superstorm Sandy cost New Jersey $30 billion in damage. While many parts of New Jersey were devastated, not every beach area was destroyed, even though many have that misunderstanding. Tourists are under the impression that places like Atlantic City are wiped out, but they're in great shape and the state is open to tourism.
Travelzoo is trying to promote this message, so they're putting the spotlight on some of these areas.
"Rebuilding efforts are under way as the Jersey Shore recovers from the devastating impact of Superstorm Sandy," a message on the Travelzoo site reads. "Hotels, restaurants and small businesses along the coast are open for business again, and are offering deals to bring tourism dollars back to the beaches and boardwalks. A portion of the proceeds from the deals below will go to Jersey Cares to promote rebuilding efforts. The best way to support these popular beach towns is to visit and have fun."
Travelzoo is showcasing some of these deals such as a Penthouse stay at The Chelsea hotel in Atlantic City for $150 and $100 for a stay at a historic Jersey Shore B&B or a two night stay in Wildwood.
"Travelzoo supports many destinations that have been affected by weather-related tragedies as long as they are safe for travel," Travelzoo's Senior Editor Gabe Saglie told the Huffington Post. "The deals featured in the Support the Shore Sale are for areas that are safe for travel."
Travelzoo is donating a portion of the proceeds from any of the deals to local organization Jersey Cares as their effort to "Support the Shores."
