Super Bowl 2013: Southwest Airlines Adds Additional Flights from San Francisco and Baltimore to New Orleans

Now that Super Bowl 2013 is set, with the San Francisco 49ers facing the Baltimore Ravens in New Orleans, fans who plan to go to the game are trying to settle their travel arrangements. Flights from San Francisco to New Orleans are already hard to come by for Super Bowl weekend, but Southwest Airlines has specifically added more nonstop flights from San Francisco and Baltimore to New Orleans.

Thousands of 49ers and Ravens fans who are trying to book their flights to New Orleans for the big game on February 3 will be happy to know that Southwest Airlines and subsidiary AirTran Airways is making it a bit easier. The airline introduced specific flights just for the Super Bowl.

Those looking for a flight to New Orleans for the Super Bowl can catch one of two daily nonstop flights from San Francisco to New Orleans or two daily nonstop flights from Baltimore/Washington to New Orleans on Thursday, January 31. Southwest subsidiary AirTrain Airways is also offering a flight from Atlanta to New Orleans for Atlanta football fans.

For those returning after the Super Bowl, Southwest has added an additional two daily nonstop flights from New Orleans to San Francisco and two daily nonstop flights from New Orleans to Baltimore/Maryland on February 4, but due to high demand, both of these flights are already sold out. Two return flights on AirTrain Airways back to Atlanta are also sold out. San Francisco travelers can also try to fly to and from Oakland.

Southwest's 737s only hold 150 people, so some of the flights sold out quickly, even though they weren't cheap. Many paid around $1,300 for a round trip.

To try your luck at getting one of these flights, go to southwest.com, swabiz.com and airtran.com.
