Best Airline Food Among European Airlines

Airline food doesn't have the best reputation, but it's not all bad. Some airlines actually offer some pretty good meals. Skyscanner released their second annual study of the best airline food on European airlines.

Skyscanner surveyed 550 European travelers and asked them to give their input on what European airlines offer the best on-board meals. Skyscanner then determined which airlines earned their European Airline Food Awards.

Skyscanner chose airlines based on three categories. They included low-cost airlines, short-haul airlines and long-haul airlines. Turkish airline Pegasus was chosen to have the best good for a low-cost airline. In the short-haul category, Scandivanvian Airlines earned the Best Airline Food award. Dutch airlines KLM took the top spot for the long-haul dining category.

"Airline food used to have a reputation for being bland, but the quality of in-flight meals has improved massively as airlines place greater importance on serving good food at altitude," Skyscanner's Victoria Bailie said in a release. "The majority of airlines have now realized that the quality of the meals does play an important part in airline choice and can sway regular flyers to travel with them."

British Airways, Aeroflot and SAS took both the short-haul and long-haul categories for best food. Overall, travelers believe airlines food had improved. According to a survey of 1,500 travelers, 54 percent said they think the quality of airline food is good and three-quarters said it is improving from previous years.
