"One Day at a Time" which is a Sony Pictures TV comedy from Norman Lear and showrunners Mike Royce and Gloria Calderon Kellett has been given a second season of revival by Netflix. They are going to put a contemporary twist on this ground breaking sitcom in 1970s of the CBS which featured a story about a divorced mother. Justina Machado will star as the new single mother who will try to raise her children with the help of her mother.
Apparently, Netflix has ordered 13 new episodes for its upcoming season. "One Day at a Time" marked a legendary return to the TV series which was also produced by a legendary producer, a 94-year old Norman Lear. It can be recalled that its original series was played by Bonnie Franklin, Mackenzie Philips, and Valerie Bertineli, Variety reported.
The upcoming season will have a new location and is different from the classic series. From Indianapolis, the shoot will be held in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles. Further, Machado, being one of the lead characters was seen as an Emmy contender to her role as a newly-divorced Cuban-American woman who will raise her two children. Her children on the series will also be played by Isabella Gomez and Marcel Ruiz.
Recently, Machado and other cast members of the upcoming series beat up the video for the social media in order to announce the renewal news. Aside from Machado, other characters which are set to star in season 2 will be Moreno, Todd Grinnell, Stephen Tobolowsky, Brent Miller, and Michael Garcia, Deadline reported.
This 13-episode season will be produced by Act III Productions Inc., Snowpants Productions, and Small Fish Studios together with the Sony Pictures Television. This is going to be a re-imagining of Norman Lear's classic which literally gained best reviews from the date it made premiere on January 6.
