Anthony Bourdain is no stranger to travel as he visits different countries to test the cuisine, but he had a first time experience before a recent flight with American Airlines. Bourdain's flight was delayed for hours after a passenger defecated on board.
Bourdain took to his Twitter account to express his frustration over a two hour delay while he waited for his American Airlines flight to take off. He started by tweeting his wife, Ottavia, and said he didn't think he would make it to his destination on time.
He then goes on to write a series of profanity-filled tweets about the delay.
"Love the poor gate agent, standing mute under the "on time " sign when clearly we are f***ed. #AA. What does "special situation" mean in airlines speak? Ain't nothin special about late departure #AA," he tweeted.
Bourdain used plenty of sarcasm when describing his frustration over the delay. Bourdain took to a panini bar to wait for his flight when he found out what was causing the delay.
"Oh, smell of burning panini run-off! You rock my world ! #AA #airportdelights," he wrote.
After two hours of waiting, Bourdain heard the surprising reason for the delay.
"Latest news is it took #AA two hours to admit a passenger dropped a wet deuce on a seat. Need to change planes," he wrote.
Friend and fellow Travel Channel star joked about the incident with Bourdain, saying "Amazing how with all the technology it takes to fly, all it takes is some little s*** to mess it all up for everyone." Bourdain replied, saying "thinking about paying it forward. Especially after that airport panini."
Bourdain's last tweet reads, "Now pilots roaming freely...waiting for Godot. #AA." It is not clear if he made it to his destination.
It is not clear what airport Bourdain was in when the incident occurred but he may was on his way to the Cayman Islands. He may have been in a New York airport as he was in Manhattan for a fundraiser to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Bourdain is best known for traveling around the world for the Travel Channel show "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations." He now has a new show called "The Layover."
