It has been almost a year since fans get to see "Wayward Pines." Season 2 finale aired in July of last year and fans have been wondering if there will be a Season 3.
There has been a lot of news circulating online that the show is cancelled. There is no official confirmation from Fox yet, but many are hopeful that there is going to be a Season 3, because although there was a drop in ratings, it's undeniable that the series has a gripping storyline. TV Line previously reported that the series was still the No. 1 scripted show of the summer when it wrapped up last year.
According to IMDb, "Wayward Pines" is a story about an idyllic little town from where the show is named after. A Secret Service agent goes to this Idaho town, searching for two federal agents who have gone missing in Wayward Pines. He later realized that there's more to the town, and that he may never get out of there alive.
In August, when Fox Television Group co-chairman/CEO Dana Walden was interviewed about the fate of the show, she said: "I definitely think there could be a Season 3." Now, recently, Fox entertainment president David Madden talked about the series and he said that there have been "discussions about casting." Madden did not disclose if new casts will be added.
Madded also said that "Wayward Pines" didn't come together quickly enough for them to have it this summer. This means that if reports are true about Season 3, it may be released in 2018. It's definitely a long wait, but at least fans are hopeful. The wait may just be enough reason to watch out for the next season because more time only means the creators would be able to come up with a more compelling plot.
