Margaritaville Holdings in partnership, together with real estate Minto Communities plans to build Latitude Margaritaville, a first among the series of "active adult communities" to be only available for people ages 55 years and above. The community center is slated to open during fall of 2017 and is being branded now as a retirement community in Florida.
According to a press release, the Latitude Margaritaville has a tropical vibe that offers a "no worries" environment for guests and residents. It will have walkable neighborhoods and a Town Center featuring a fitness center with an aerobics studio, indoor lap pool, spa, and group fitness classes.
There will also be indoor and outdoor dining with signature Margaritaville food and beverage concepts, arts, and learning programs for residents and guests, and a resort pool area with beach entry.
A private beach club will also be put up with a complete view of the Atlantic Ocean on which people can access through a loop shuttle service. Music will be played everywhere especially in the Town Center where live entertainment will be held now and then.
About 6,900 people are expected to reside in the active adult community, and a 200,000 sq. ft. commercial space will be made available for retailers. The cost to build Latitude Margaritaville is said to be almost $1 billion.
Senior Vice President of Minto Communities Bill Bullock said: "For over 60 years Minto has focused on providing incredible lifestyle in the communities we create." He also mentioned that partnering with Margaritaville makes the place ideal for active adults.
The creation of Margaritaville was inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of singer-songwriter, Jimmy Buffett, who is known for his songs perfect for tropical relaxation. The company has launched its first restaurant in Key West, Fla. and has become America's leading lifestyle escapism brand.
