Robert Hall,54, was reportedly dragged a half a mile down a dirt road. He went to a home nearby and called the police where he told officers that three people tried to kill him, reports Myfox8.com. He suffered broken facial bones, a broken pelvis and bleeding on his brain.
Reuters reported that he remains in the surgical intensive care unit on Thursday at Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach.
The attack occurred in New Smyrna Beach where Hall normally stayed at the home of his ex wife while she was away working as a truck driver.
The attack took place in a rural part of New Smyrna Beach, a popular Florida resort town, where Hall typically stayed at the home of his ex-wife, Jeanette Morris, 61, while she was away working as a truck driver.
"Morris suspected that Hall had allowed his girlfriend in the house and arranged for a deputy to escort her when she returned to her home Tuesday night in order to avoid a confrontation, the sheriff's report said," reported Reuters.
The three accomplices reportedly tied his hands behind his back and tied his ankles together then attached the rope to the bumper of the pickup truck. When the truck stopped, they tossed him into the truck bed and cut off some of his hair and then talked of scalping him and looking for a hole to bury him, reported Reuters.
When the truck started moving again, Hall leaped out and ran to a house for help.
"Morris, Anderson and Hobart are each charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, false imprisonment, aggravated battery and aggravated assault," reported Reuters.
