ABC network has eyed "Battle of the Network Stars" for its reboot soon. This show has been known as the 1970s and 80s competition series that rutted stars from various networks. As for now, ABC is already preparing for the casting of its upcoming revival. The network plans to have the redo of its 19 original series and probably will hit screen for summer events.
The show is also expected to be added into the network's rooster of primetime game show revivals. As of now, they are already searching for casts to star on the show. Accordingly, the series will have to start shooting by May, Variety reported.
Originally, this revival hailed from ABC and IMG which originally owned the program. It will be produced by Glassman Media. The show will also feature stars from multiple television games while competing in order to raise money for a charity.
The original "Battle of the Network Stars" was first aired on ABC from 1976 to 1985 and they had featured teams which represented ABC, CBS, and NBC. Participating stars enjoyed events like kayaking, golf, football and even tug of war.
For most of its run before, the show was hosted by Howard Cosell. There were also other co-hosts like Ron Howard, Penny Marshall, and Bruce Jenner. Some other events which will be played are rowing, golf, tennis, swimming, basketball, and an obstacle course and the final event will determine the winner, Deadline reported.
Apparently, "Battle of the Network Stars" has already been revived twice. In 1998 it was on ABC, and in 2003 in was on NBC. But the later reboot only had featured the Peacock stars. Generally, ABC has enjoyed their success with revivals of classic shows and might be as well enjoying the success of this soon to air game show revival!
