A trailer for the 20th anniversary "Pokemon" movie has been released. The movie titled "Pokemon: I Choose You" is going to bring fans back to the anime's earliest days, and it's going to be nostalgic for sure. The trailer is in Japanese, but the scenes are unmistakable.
The trailer is going to look familiar to "Pokemon" fans, Polygon said. The movie retells the very first episodes of the anime, which means that fans will see s bratty Pikachu along with an idealistic Ash. The movie will take the "Pokemon" cartoon back to its roots.
According to Press Start Australia, the teaser shows Ash and Pikachu's fateful encounter and the legendary Pokemon Ho-Oh which drops a Rainbow Wing - which fans speculate that this is going to be a major twist in the movie. Even if the movie is set in the past, it's not going to be exactly the same as the original episode.
"Pokemon: I Choose You" was officially revealed on December 15 during the broadcast of TV Tokyo's "Oha Suta" program where a teaser trailer and a poster for the film was revealed. The movie, which will retell the first season, will explore very important plot points.
It is not yet known as to how many of the early episodes of the anime will be adapted, but clearly, there are several scenes from the first episode that are recognizable. The trailer showed a brief scence where Ash can be seen carrying an injured Pikachu in the rain. In the anime though, Ash was riding Misty's bike and Pikachu was in a basket. Is Misty not going to be a part of the movie?
Voice actors for the "Pokemon" movie are Rica Matsumoto as Satoshi (Ash Ketchum), and Ikue Ōtani as Pikachu. The movie is set to hit Japanese theaters on July 15, but a Western release date is yet to be announced.
