Sabrina Carpenter's show "Girl Meets World" has not shown the most appropriate ending. This was revealed by show runner Michael Jacobs. He said, the storyline was spread out in four seasons, and season 3 is not yet the end of it. The show has more stories, angles, and twists to tell.
His statement was true that even stars of the "Boy Meets World" spin-off agreed. Rowan Blanchard during the time they are appealing for the renewal of the show said it too.
This is Jacob's point in questioning the cancellation. He said that the contract of the show is for four seasons, hence, the show ended prematurely. He is now working for a season four and hoping that the show will find a new home.
But a source clarified that the contract was for three seasons and there was an option added for season four. However, Disney abruptly ended the show.
The Wrap shared the statement made by Disney regarding Jacobs' allegation. Per Disney, "The decision to not option a fourth season of 'Girl Meets World' was made after careful consideration of many factors." It added that they have presented more than 70 episodes tackling about kids and families; the heartfelt finale brought back the "Boy Meets World" characters for a grand reunion.
Right after the cancellation, Jacobs said that it won't take a couple of months for the decision to come. Netflix has decided early and it was not in favor of the show. Freeform has not picked it up either, so basically, the show is still homeless.
Michael Jacobs told TV Line in January that there is still a demand for the show as its fans are still intact. This gives him hope because after all shows are made for the fans. It's like having a market ready, so a product has to be supplied.
Jacobs said that he can innovate and put in more interesting stories into the show. He is still not closing the doors for possibilities. "Girl Meets World" season 4 story lines, in case picked up by a new network, will focus on the growing up of the characters.
