Mexico and Ibiza are both popular tourist destinations because of the attractions, romantic spots and vibrant nightlife that they offer. In fact, Ibiza is included in the top 10 couple destinations according to Owners Direct. However, records show that there is a big number of couples who broke up after spending their first vacation together in both of these places.
Usually, a lot of couples consider their first travel together as a testing ground on how strong their relationship is. However, according to research, a survey was made that involved 2,187 people who broke up after their first vacation together. The results came out and it was found out that 21% of the people had spent a vacation in Mexico while 17% went to Ibiza.
Mexico and Ibiza are the top two destinations that are considered to be unlucky places for couples. The other places that were included in the top five, in descending order, were Portugal (12%), Cape Verde (9%) and Lanzarote (7%).
But what if you'd want to save your relationship? Well, worry no more because there are also places that are known for fixing those broken pieces together. The same research was made by sunshine.co.uk and the results came out that the top five places that save relationships were Tenerife (18%), Italy (15%), Cyprus (13%), Majorca (10%) and Mainland Spain (9%).
The respondents were mostly people who are were based in UK and it appears that distance plays a big factor. All the places that won't destroy relationships are somewhere near the UK. Longer flights and costly trips might play a big role for couples to break up their relationships.
Travel is a perfect opportunity to spend romantic moments. Don't let the breakup statistics determine your trip, though--now that you know that these two places could be unlucky, maybe you can be more careful if you ever plan to still head to these parts of the world.
