U.S. Senator Rand Paul's son has been arrested after a flight. The Associated Press reported that police said William Hilton, 19, was arrested after a flight from Kentucky to North Carolina.
The Charlotte Observer reported that Paul was arrested at Charlotte Douglas International Airport and charged with alcohol-related offenses. Police Lt Black Hollar said to the newspaper that its possible that underage traveler was served alcohol oh his flight from Lexington, Kentucy to Carlotte, North Carolina.
Rand Paul is the Republican senator in Kentucky and the son of former presidential candidate Ron Paul. William Hilton Paul was charged with "underage consumption, disorderly conduct, and being intoxicated and disruptive. Conduct," reported ABC News.
The teenager was arrested at the airport and taken to Mecklenberg County Jail reported ABC News. Rand Paul's communications director Moira Bagley said in a statement to NBC News, "Sen. Paul is a national public figure and subject to scrutiny in the public arena, however, as many parents with teenagers would understand, his family should be afforded the privacy and respect they deserve in a situation such as this," the statement said.
William Hilton Paul's bond was posted for $750 on Saturday and he was released from the county jail.
Rand Paul recently became a part of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and was scheduled to travel to Israel on Sunday for meetings with Israeli Officials.
Rand Paul was sworn into senate on Jan. 5, 2011 along with his father Ron Paul, which makes, in the first time in congressional history, that someone served on senate while their parent served in the House of Representatives.
