Drunk Passenger On Flight Taped to Seat After Uruly Behavior

A passenger on a flight had to be taped to his seat after unruly behavior from drinking too much alcohol on an Icelandair flight.

NBC News reported that a photo of the man ended up on a blog which is run by New Yorker Andy Ellwood who said he got the photo from someone who witnessed the incident where the man was tied up.

He said to NBC News, "My friend was on the flight and he sent me the photo because we like to trade travel war stories."

The acquaintance did not want to be identified but Ellwood said in his blog that the passenger "drank all of his duty free liquor on the flight from Iceland to JFK yesterday."

"When he became unruly, (i.e. trying to choke the woman next to him and screaming the plane was going to crash), fellow passengers subdued him and tie(d) him up for the rest of the flight. He was escorted off the flight by police when it landed."

Ron Marsico, a spokesman for Port Authority of New York & New Jersey said to NBC News, "A 46-year-old man was taken into custody last night at JFK off an Icelandic flight and then brought to the hospital because Port Authority police determined he was intoxicated.

He added that the man was not charged and is free to go. Marisco also added that the man has an Icelandic passport.

Icelandair has not come through with a response but a spokesman for the airline has confirmed that the incident occurred to Icelandic media.
