Want to ride the world's shortest escalator? Take a trip to Kawasaki, Japan. You'll find the not even three-feet high escalator with five steps in a department store there. One local took a ride on it and shared his experience through a video that had gone viral.
A Reddit user, Etegamiguy, lives in Japan and he wanted to share the experience of what it's like to ride the world's shortest escalator. With overly-exxagerated enthusiasm, the man tells viewers exactly how to find the escalator and he rides it a whole seven times, capturing every move on video.
The mini escalator can be found in the basement floor of More's department store in Kawasaki, Japan, near the parking garage. The tiny escalator measures only 32.8 inches, making it the world's shortest escalator according to Guinness World Records.
Etegamiguy definitely recommends the ride as he calls it a "glorious experience." He says, "If you're ever in the area, please check it out! It's really worth your time."
One of the funniest parts of the world's smallest escalator is that there are stairs just below it, in which people must use to get to the parking garage.
The video was posted to YouTube on January 2 and has over 518,000 views already. Some people cracked jokes saying "Well that escalated quickly," which is the line from the film "Anchorman" starring Will Ferrell. Some were surprised that the mini mechanical stairs aren't in America and the U.S. is known as a lazy nation. Others said they're determined to create an even smaller escalator and to beat the world record.
