The next episode of "Chicago P.D." is going to focus on Ruzek (Patrick John Fluger) after his return to Intelligence and the personal tragedy that Olinsky is currently dealing with. As seen in the previous episode, Ruzek had spent a month going undercover and when he finally returned, he got a rather unexpected surprise when he saw his spot had been taking Kenny Rixton (Nick Wechsler), the former protégé of Hank Voight (Jason Beghe).
In a rather disheartening turn of events, Ruzek is instead assigned to another district to do uniform duty. However, things still end well for Ruzek as he is welcomed back to Intelligence by Rixton due to a favour he owes Ruzik's father. Rixton repays that favour by leaving Intelligence which allows Ruzek to come back.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Matt Olmstead the return of Ruzek to the team will reinvigorate the entire unit. Intelligence has missed Ruzek, and more importantly Burgess has missed him because he had already, at one point, accepted the reality that he was no longer with the team.
Meanwhile, Olinsky (Elias Koteas) is dealing with a very personal tragedy as his daughter remains in critical condition after becoming the victim of a massive fire. The situation has everyone in Intelligence on edge, but they are more determined than ever to capture the suspect.
The case is opened up by Voight knowing that he has the support of Stone (Philip Winchester) and the entire team in the investigation. Intelligence tries to connect the dots between the owner of the building, the people who were inside, and a whole laundry list of potential suspects. CarterMatt.com reports that the episode will have "several different moving parts", but due to it being "so massive" it might take all of the other units in Chicago to figure out exactly what happened.
