Coyotes Attack Man Walking His Dog in Washington

In Kent, Washington three coyotes attached a man who was walking his dog. The man, Faron Scarberry, was left bleeding and bruised.

"They were coming around the bush and I guess they were going after my puggle." Scarberry said to Kpax.com. "One of them lunged up towards me and I kind of pushed it away with my hand and its front claws scratched my hand and wrist. Then one of them grabbed me by the pant leg and started shaking my leg so I just started kicking and hitting at them to get them off of me and they ran back under the fence."

Scarberry had to receive 26 shots for rabies after the incident occurred and a few days after the incident he said he was sore but more worried about his neighbors to kfax.com. "The elementary school is right at the back of our property and the kids walk here to and from school," Scarberry said. "I don't want any of the kids to get hurt."

December is a time that coyotes are out looking for food. It is smart to keep trash lids closed. Americanlivewire.com reported that during the winter months coyotes are typically hungry because of the lack of fruit in the area. When there are a lack of food sources for the animals they look for alternatives such as dogs and cats.

Claudia Johnson, one of Scarberry's neighbors said her cat was attacked last year in the same neighborhood. She said to kpax.com, "We kept our animals in for quite some time after that.
