Happy New Year! More than one million people packed Times Square for the NYC 2013 ball drop to ring in the new year. The event was broadcasted on television and online video to billions around the world.
With the help of the Radio City Rockettes, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg started the minute countdown as the large ball with 288 new Waterford crystals dropped.
At midnight the 2013 sign lit up and Times Square exploded with cheers, confetti and fireworks as revelers shared a New Year's kiss and celebrated. Many were given party hats, blue balloons and 2013 glasses, courtesy of Nivea.
It was a star-filled night as many singers gave performances leading up to the countdown. Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, the Rockin' New Year's eve broadcast featured performers like Taylor Swift, Korean rapper Psy, MC Hammer, Carly Rae Jepsen, Train and Pitbull.
