Hulu, a video on demand company connected with The Walt Disney Company, has ordered a 10-episode series of J.J. Abrams & Stephen King's "Castle Rock." Production for the show will commence this year.
The series is a psyco-horror drama series written by Stephen King and J.J. Abrams. It is located in "Castle Rock" Maine, a town featured in King's works. The television series is a fusion of characters and situations from Stephen King's various written works.
In a trailer released recently, there were titles and character mentioned in it from a number of Stephen King's novels. The novels were "Needful Things," "Dolores," " It," "Rita Haworth and Shawshank Reemption," "Salem's Lot," "The Green Mile," and "Night Shift." "Dream Catcher," "Misery," "The Shining," "Hearts In Atlantis," "The Mangler," "Different Seasons," "Four Past Mdnight," "Nightmares and Dreamscapes" were also mentioned.
Dustin Thomason and Sam Shaw of "Manhattan" developed the television series based on King's situations and characters. It is story where light and darkness oppose each other. The teaser garnered 1 million views according to Deadline. "Castle Rock" has brought together King, Hulu, Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television.
The collaboration of Hulu, King, and Abrams is not their first time according to GQ. The three did "11/22/63" last year, based on King's novel. The show was good but hindered by bland performances and unwillingness to connive with King's book ideas.
A teaser for the series was released on February 17, 2017. J.J. Abrams was the executive producer while Dustin Thomason and Sam Shaw are the writers. The television series was reported to be a really scary experience.
Production starts this year but the release date has not been confirmed. Watch out for more updates on J.J. Abrams & Stephen King's "Castle Rock"series.
