A college student in Cincinnati has won a stalking order against her parents. 21-year old Aubrey Ireland who attends Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music, filed the order after her parents installed monitoring software on her phone and computer, reported The Daily Mail.
The order states that Audrey's parents, David and Julie Ireland cannot have any contact with their daughter and must be 500 feet away from her at all times until September 23, 2013, reported The Daily Mail.
Aubrey is a talented student studying musical theatre and she claims her parents would come to her apartment without warning and accuse of having mental issues, using drugs and promiscuity, reported The Daily Mail.
"They basically thought that they were paying for my college tuition and living expenses that they could tell me what to do who to hang out with ... basically control all of my daily life," Ireland said to ABC News.
Aubrey said to ABC News that her mother had always been overly involved in her life. "I would have to get on Skype all the time to show them that I was in my dorm room, or there were nights I had to leave my Skype on all night and my mom would watch me basically sleep," she said.
Aubrey claims that her parents have been diagnosed with co-dependency disorder. Her parents however disagree and say that Audrey is "an only child who has been catered to all her life," reported ABC News.
They are now asking Aubrey to refund the $66,000 that they've paid towards her education.
"I never wanted this to happen, that's the last thing I wanted," she said to ABC News. "But I wasn't in control of my life at all anymore. I knew that they were holding me back emotionally, mentally, and professionally and that it got to the point where that was basically my last option."
