Jason David Frank, the actor who played as the green and white Power Ranger in the hit 90s action series "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers", recently joined the Primo Nutmeg podcast where he revealed he is still interested in fighting CM Punk. Punk, whose real name is Philip Jack Brooks, is a former WWE champion and current UFC fighter.
Frank, who is a seventh degree black belt and has an MMA background, has been challenging Punk to a fight ever since the former pro wrestler signed with the UFC. Punk simply laughed off Frank's challenge the first time around, but the former Power Ranger has been persistent in calling out Punk and believes he is the perfect opponent for him, according to Comicbook.com.
Frank, who is more popularly known Tommy Oliver, the green and white ranger from the original "Power Rangers" series, had a brief foray into the world of mixed martial arts where he has a 1-0 record. Frank insists that money is not a factor in his desire to fight Punk. He says he is willing to fight Punk for only a dollar as long as the event pulls through. According to Frank, it all comes down to pleasing his fan base.
"CM Punk, for him it makes sense on a financial level but I'm super different from most of these people out there", said Frank. "I don't care about the money, that's what I've said from day one that I'd fight him for a dollar just to make the contract equal." When asked if he had some personal beef with Punk, Frank was quick to dismiss it saying it was the exact opposite.
Punk made his UFC debut on September 10, 2016 in UFC 203 against Mickey Gall. He lost in the first round via rear naked choke. In an earlier report posted by The Sun, Punk says he has been "working feverishly" to get another fight in the UFC despite being embarrassed in his debut.
