World's Oldest Man Ever: Jiroemon Kimura Takes the Guinness World Record

The Japanese man has taken the title of the world's oldest man ever.

Jiroemon Kimura just became the world's oldest man ever, passing the previous record of 115 years and 252 days held by Christian Mortensen, a Danish-American who died in 1998. He was born on April 19, 1897, when Queen Victoria was still on the throne. He's only the third man in history to reach 115 years old and now has the Guinness World Record for being the world' oldest man.

Kimura lives with his son's family near Kyoto, Japan and he's a big fan of red bean cake and rice, as he said in an interview with The Telegraph. During his lifetime he worked as a postal worker. He has 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandkids, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Kimura is getting recognition from his town as Kyotango mayor, Yasushi Nakayama confirmed his age and called him "the pride of our town," according to The Telegraph.

He will appear in the Guinness World Record 2013 book.

Recently, the world's oldest person, 116-year old Dina Manfredini of Iowa died. She took the title from 116-year-old Besse Cooper who died just two weeks before. Kimura may me the world's oldest person alive now.

So what's his secret to staying alive so long? Kimura told The Telegraph that he lives by the sun. "I am always looking up towards the sky."
