A Tunisian man who ate 28 raw eggs died in a bet gone bad.
Dhaou Fatnassi, 20, of El Baten made a bet with his friends that he could eat 30 raw eggs for a certain amount of money, according to Tunisian radio station Shems FM.
He begans to eat the eggs but his stomach couldn't handle it.
"Doctors were called in after the young man felt strong stomach pains, but he died on the way," Shems FM said.
It is not clear what exactly caused the death but health officials warn against eating raw eggs because they may contain salmonella virus. If not cooked, the salmonella can enter a person's system and may cause food poisoning.
However the chance of an egg containing salmonella virus is very slim. Statistics show that only one in thirty thousand eggs contain the bacteria but it is hard to determine if the egg does have it just by its appearance.
This incident comes after a 32-year-old man in Florida died after he won a cockroach-eating competition. He ate dozens of live roaches and other insects before he started vomiting and eventually passed away.
