Jamie Aguiar, the wife of missing millionaire Guma Aguiar, has been struggling to cope with the loss of her husband. Guma, 35, went missing in Florida after he left ith his motorboat thorugh Port Everglades on a night cruise nearly six months ago. Jamie said to The Daily Mail that the holidays are a "very difficult time."
The 33-year-old from Rio Vista Isles, Florida said to The Daily Mail, "I try and count our blessings every single day and try and think of what I'm grateful for."
The whereabouts of Guma are still unknown and whether or not Guma simply abandoned Jamie has not been figured out. The couple has a daughter and three sons together ranging from 15 months old to 7 years.
The Daily Mail reported that Jamie said they do Christmas and Hanukkah at their home. "We have a Christmas tree and I celebrate with the children and light the menorah, too. It's a really special tradition this time of year," she said according to The Daily Mail.
The Brazilian millionare went missing on June 19yh and since then there have been massive legal battles which has included lawsuits over profits from a company sale as well as over real estate ownership in Israel which had to do with Guma's siblings and mother.
Guma's motorboat which he was last seen on was found ashore, without him. The couple has had a tumultuous marriage. The Daily Mail reported, "During the couple's often tumultuous marriage, Mr Aguiar was committed to a hospital for mental health-related reasons, sued his wife for divorce and later withdrew that petition." They also added that Guma was on probation for domestic violence at the time of his dissapearance.
ABC News reported that there are multiple signs that point to Guma hiding out in the Netherlands. Attorney William Schere said that Guma's sister, Angelika Aguiar Drew sent the court an affidavit from the Netherlands.
"She sent the Florida court an affidavit signed in the Netherlands that she intends to move her residence or has moved her residence to the Netherlands," Scherer said to ABC News."Angelika and Corey have indicated that they want to move or have moved to the Netherlands. They're trying to avoid us, taking this deposition and being subject to Florida court. So she filed this affidavit and then we are wondering, 'What's the Netherlands?"
Sherer, who represents Jamie Aguiar said that he discovered that another one of Guma's close business associates had also relocated to the Netherlands.
"Why are they all going to the Netherlands? What's going on there? We haven't been able to get them under oath to ask them," he said to ABC News. "This all may be a coincidence, but it may not be."
