A Southwest Airlines flight headed for Tampa, Florida got stuck in the mud at a Long Island, New York airport.
Southwest Airlines Flight 4695 was getting ready to take off for Tampa International Airport at MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma when it veered off the runway and got stuck in some mud in a grassy area, according to the Associated Press.
There were 129 passengers on board when the incident occurred. Many said it felt like a car stopping short. No one was hurt in the accident.
The passengers were taken off the plane and taken by bus back to the terminal. They were scheduled on other flights headed to Tampa. A flight was sent from Baltimore to accommodate them and they will arrive on a five hour delay.
It is not clear how the plane veered off the runway, but New York has been dealing with high wind, heavy rain and snow which has cancelled and delayed flights all across the Northeast.
Maintenance crews were examining the plane for damage and investigators are trying to figure out what caused the plane to veer off the runway.
This isn't the first time a plane got stuck at an airport. In July, high temperatures during a heat wave caused the tarmac at Washington D.C.'s Reagan National Airport to melt. The wheels of a U.S. Airways flight sunk into the pavement, causing it to get stuck.
