HBO's "The Leftovers" may be out of the TV soon, but this would not be Liv Tyler's last scene on TV. She is the new addition alongside Kit Harington and Mark Gatiss in Guy Fawkes-inspired miniseries "Gunpowder."
Deadline has reported that Tyler would be joining Harington (known more to the public in his role as John Snow in Game of Thrones) and Gatiss (known for his role as Mycroft in Sherlock) in the three-part BBC One Drama. Other cast member reported is Peter Mullan (known for his role in Top of the Lake), who will act in a supporting role.
As reported back in October, "Gunpowder" will be set in the year 1605 and it tells the story of the attempts made by the early-known vigilant Fawks and a group of English Catholics to blow up the House of the Lords. They are also aiming to restore a Catholic to the crown by also killing King James I in the plan. Their plan was prevented by authorities after they discovered piles of explosive near the Westminister Palace.
Mirror has reported that Harington would play as Robert Catesby, who was said to be the mastermind of the plan on blowing up the castle and killing King James I. Tyler would play as Catesby's cousin Anne Vaux, who is described as a concerned relative to Harington's character.
Gatis would play the "spymaster-in-chief" Robert Cecil, Metro has reported. He would be on King James' side, protecting the king and instructing their people to hunt down and torture who are involved with Catesby's plan.
Mullan would play Fr. Garnet, a Jesuit priest who wants peace in the Kingdom. Hay may be unfavorable to King James I but he would not also support the plan of toppling his kingdom down. Production of Gunpowder will start later this month. Written by Ronan Bennett, "Gunpowder" would be shown on BBC One.
