'Mary Poppins' Star Julie Andrews Tells Scene That Almost Cost Her Life

"Mary Poppins" star Julie Andrews still recalls the day she almost lost her life. She was filming her umbrella scene when it happened.

The famous umbrella scene was where Andrews did a stunt with a harness holding her as she holds an umbrella according to Huffington Post. She was above hanging for a long time trying to forget the pain the harness is giving her and executing the scene.

Later, she sensed that the harness is not working as expected so she remained up above for a few minutes. Later, she was in panicked when she notice that the wires holding the harness are beginning to loosen.

She told one of the crew members to lower her down slowly. But it did not work, so she plummeted down towards the stage. The 1964 movie's sequel is titled "Mary Poppins Returns."

Production has already started in the UK according to Slash Films.The cast includes Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer who play Michael and Jane respectively. Michael, who is the son of the Banks has his own children now. The actors who will play Michael's kids are Joel Dawson, Nathanael Saleh, and Pixie Davies. Davies has appeared in a horror-drama "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children."

Emily Blunt plays the lead role of Mary Poppins who was hired by the family as a nanny. She and the street lamp lighter Jack played by (Lin Manuel-Miranda) helped each other to bring joy, hope, and wonder to the family that experienced Loss.

The supporting cast includes Julie Walters who plays Michael's housekeeper Ellen and the role of William Weatherall Wilkins went to Colin Firth. He owns the Fidelity Fiduciary Bank chaired by Mr. Dawes Jr. (Dick Van Dyke). Meryll Streep plays a delightful character named Topsy, Mary Poppins' cousin who will introduce Michael's kids to some magical fun with their nanny.

"Mary Poppins" Julie Walters' experience in the movie will be a lesson to the crew to execute the scene with security and safety. The movie which is directed by Rob Marshall will be released on Christmas Day 2018.
