President Barack Obama and his family have officially left on their Christmas vacation to Hawaii. Obama shared his vacation plans on the Whitehouse's official website.
"President Obama is committed to making this the most open and participatory administration in history and has decided to share his shortened vacation this year with the American People. So crank up your heaters, play some Hawaiian music, and briefly enjoy online "The 2012 Obama Hawaii Vacationette," said the official Whitehouse website
Obama's official vacation started on Friday when him and his family got on Air Force One and headed over to a prime vacation in Hawaii with the rest of the Obama clan. On the plane President Obama ejoyed a mai tai and chocolate macadamia nuts, stated the Whitehouse website.
The President and his family arrived in Honolulu just after midnight on Saturday. The Associated Press reported that President Obama said he would be back next week to continue working on the fiscal cliff crisis.
The family went to their vacation home in Kailua, which is on the east side of Oahu. The home is the same place the Obamas stayed at on their 2011 vacation. Barack Obama grew up in Oahu so it has personal significance to him. CNN reported that the home is a 5-bedroom luxury house in a secluded area on Kailua Beach.
"Interior Designer Jay Gorsia designed the house to reflect the Chinese and Indian heritage of the owners. The house is accentuated with Brazilian hardwoods and cherry trim molding, and has a swimming pool set among a lush tropical garden and koi pond," reported CNN.
On Saturday the AP reported that President Obama golfed at Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course at the Marine Corps Base and the Obama family had dinner at Morimoto, which is in the Waikiki Hotel and opened up by chef Masaharu Morimoto.
