The last thing you want to hear is that there is an engine fail on your flight. That is exactly what happened to passengers on an American Airlines flight on Friday.
Shortly after American Airlines Flight 1925 took off from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, one of the MD-80's engines failed and witnesses on the ground noticed the problem right away, according to the Associated Press.
The plane carrying 139 passengers and five crew members was headed to Dallas but it was forced to turn around and head back to Cleveland due to the issue. The plane landed safely back at the airport.
Cleveland Hopkins International Airport wrote a tweet informing their travelers about the incident.
"American Airlines flight 1295 departing CLE to DFW experienced an engine failure after takeoff and has returned safely."
The passengers on the flight were placed on other flights to continue their trip to Dallas.
American Airlines, based in Fort Worth, Texas, has faced a series of issues over the past few months.
In October, a flight had to make an emergency landing due to a problem with the landing gear. Another plane made an emergency landing because passengers smelled smoke. During this time, several planes also had issues with loose seats. This also followed a period of numerous flight cancellations and delays as the airline was in a conflict with its pilots and other employees.
